You crack me up. Happy to know about these; hope to make it! For the record, I too have a large melon.

Huh. I would never have called it "amusing" poetry, like Goodfellas "Do I amuse you? Funny haha -- am I your clown?" Unless in the manner of "amuse bouche," to amuse the mouth, or brain. It's deep, it's profound, it's authentic, and it's richly poetic. In other words, your writing tickles the muse. In that sense, yes, aMUSing.

Thank you, Julia. That is very kind.

I'm bummed I can't make any of these. I especially want to hear that one on the 7th, but I'll be way out of internet, I suspect. Glad to see you out there, though. :)

We WILL read together in person at some point, Tara.

What are some of the books Claire Thompson has written?

Expand full comment

I don't know that Claire has published any books yet. She is a trail builder and a student. This is how this reading series works; a graduate student is paired with an "established local author," and I am the latter (allegedly). I have read a couple of her essays and heard her read, though, and she is smart and talented. If she doesn't have a book out yet, she will at some point!

I hope to "see" you at least one of these events. Thanks for sharing. I used to work with Mark's wife Pam, good people.

They are good people indeed. I met Pam first; she was/is one of my yoga instructors.

To show the flip side of the greasiness of self-promotion, knowing that these are coming up just gave me a bit of heart-lift!
