I too was deeply moved by John Lewis’s letter in the Times today. I wasn’t expecting the interruption it would cause in my day. I printed out his essay and hung it on the wall next to my desk where I can take time to further study it in the days to come, to absorb the things that he said, and to remember to allow those truths to be infused in all of my choices.

Thank you for sharing your eloquent thoughts and for carrying the message forward. Your words were the perfect thing I needed to hear next.

This was, per usual, a wonderful piece. The "Medicare-For-All" vote was the news from this week that made me the most despondent, even more than the situation in Portland. If we can go through a year in which millions of people lost their health insurance (not to mention all the other glaring inequalities this pandemic has magnified) and the "opposition party" can't even come close to embracing THAT in the face of this turmoil, what hope is there? But I have to keep reminding myself that the best change in this country has almost always come from persistent mass mobilizations as John Lewis's life attests.

Anyway, thank you so much for your writings they are a "must read" for me.

Chris, just this morning I listened to an interview of John Lewis, and many of his words stuck with me. Quickly, I scribbled them into my journal. I feel like hollering them out at everyone, but you and I know not everyone will listen.

Preach on, my friend....preach on.

Preaching may be gross, but I sit firmly in your choir.

Perfect! I read somewhere that tRump is accusing Biden of secretly being “far left”. If only. I needed this reminder of what and where to focus.
