Reimagine Our Shared Future
Through acts of care for the living world
Boozhoo, indinawemaaganidog! Aaniin! That is to say hello, all of my relatives! Welcome to another edition of An Irritable Métis. Another short introduction to just a short announcement with time constraints. I appreciate you reading!
Friends, I know I am overdue posting last month’s sentences and I will get to that perhaps later this evening from a seedy flophouse somewhere east of the Divide. I’m still suffering a severe case of Big Event Hangover, which means equal parts elation and melancholy. I’ve only just an hour ago returned Robin Wall Kimmerer to the airport after a weekend of IndigiPalooza MT and Plant, Baby, Plant mayhem that has left my spirit reeling in only the best possible way. Every bit of it was a triumphant success and I am feeling in particular so much gratitude for how this community came out in support of our efforts. I will talk more about it in the future, perhaps, once I get caught up both with my emotions and my rest.
As I am about to hit the road to Yellowstone shortly, I do want to mention right away that if you are in the Gardiner area, or feel like visiting the Park sounds like a good time, I will be at the Voices of Yellowstone event the rest of this week. Here are some highlights you might consider:
Tuesday, August 4: I am taking a cultural tour being led by my good friend Mike Jetty from 9am - 4pm. Come join us! Mike is a treasure.
Wednesday, August 5 and Friday, August 6: I am leading tours myself both of those days, 9am - 4pm.
Friday, August 6: I’m giving a talk at the teepee lighting ceremony. I’m not sure what time that will happen but come hang out anyway. I think there’s a pot luck before it?
There is a lot of other stuff going on all week, all sponsored by Yellowstone Forever. Details for everything, as well as links to register, may be found HERE. I’d love to see you.

I was journaling this morning about last weekend and I have rarely been so challenged for words. Probably because my brain wasn’t as much the receptor of the words that I received and exchanged at Indigipallooza. It was a visceral, bodily experience. Bypassing the brain, straight to the heart. The one word that keeps coming up (right now accompanied by tears) is HOPE. What a gift. Thank you. Danke. Miigwech.
Yes it was fabulous, inspiring, informative, painful, humorous, community building..... It took me being at the 2nd day of the 2nd year to realize the overlap between Chickadee class speakers and the panel speakers. Our community is lucky you and Anna and Selya and all the volunteers gifted us this opportunity. And thanks for singing my book. Ha - typo but singing and signing are not so far apart. Safe travels and here's to rest!!
