Your writing is a bright spot in my week, every week. Everything you say resonates with me on such a deep level. I, too, saw that the Blackfeet Tribe closed entrances to Glacier, and it was the best news I heard all week. It's too bad they don't make the decisions for the rest of the state, which is extra frustrating considering we live on their land.
Noem's complaint about the precedent brings to mind a phrase Robin Wall Kimmerer wrote in Braiding Sweetgrass: "Not everything should be convenient." Kimmerer's talking about the importance of constraints we encounter when we're trying to acquire something. The tribes you speak of here are bringing back those useful constraints, and I'm glad. They're good for the health of all—and also, I think, good for our personal development.

Thanks, Angie. Imagine that, letting the people who have been here the longest make the decisions, right?
Love this!!
Thank you!
Thank you, speaking out for those whose voices have been/are stifled.
Thanks for always reading!
Man, I love every bit of this.
Thanks.

Convenience is the worst. It drives everything in this country. It makes me insane.
Yep. I couldn't agree more.
