I appreciate this description of the “walking with”. I am an old white lady and often struggle with this notion of what it means to walk in humility with another human. I think it is part of my privilege to try to insert myself so the other knows that I know, even in something like composing this response. Maybe part of the walking with is that my experiences (including reading history, poetry, this letter) can add a different layer to my presence with another without having to share the exact experience; can add an additional opportunity to approach with open heart.
